Love the plugin, but I have one problem. I disabled the option to display the preview to internal links but it still displays for some of them.
Using the nav bar at the top of my site I found that if I explicitly used my own URL in the link the preview does not display but the links built by the wordpress engine such as the permalink post titles, comments and anything using the get_settings('home') all display a preview.

Interesting service. Not sure how useful it'll be since the previews seem to take a long time to load, but then my blog is in a niche area so most of my links probably aren't cached already. I hope that once a person mouses over a link, even if they don't wait for the preview that snap grabs the snapshot anyway for the next person who mouses over.
One interesting thing is that for local ad servers, the preview still works (while if you mouse over a google banner it doesn't) Wonder if they'll add some type of parameter that'll let you specify a list of domains or URLs that should not be previewed.
Didn't seem to slow down the page loading much so no harm there - we'll see if their caches build up fast enough for it to be useful to B or C listers :)

@Mike, they have big plans on expanding this I am sure (from the little I've chatted with their support). The previews from what I read are generated and slowed. So what you can do is hover over all the links and let it get stored.
You seem to have made an interesting observation. I think I know why it could be so. The javascript must be parsing the a tag and adding a class or onmouseover or something that will popup the link. For adsense and other ads that load in iframes the a is not accessible.

Outstanding plugin! Were there an option to suppress the hover on links to Flickr (or a list of domains for that matter), it would be damn near perfect.

Hello,
The download link on this page is returning a 403 Forbidden error, I thought it might be the download manager I am using causing it but I tried to download it through the browser (Firefox) and still returns that error.

Ajay, I really dig what you've done here! The first time I saw Snap was on Matt Mullenweg's blog — does he use your plugin? In any case, pretty kickass! I signed up for Snap but haven't started using it yet.
You look like you have lots of nifty enhancements here in your comments: did you use a plugin to put in your "I encourage comments." box too, as well as the Preview and the tag-adder buttons? Very useful! Thanx in advance and keep it up. :)

I am not aware if Matt uses my plugin for this purpose. You can handcode the snap code as well. The plugin makes that a lot lot easier!
I've got plugins for the Live Preview and for adding Tags. These are ancient plugins which do their job. No fancy stuff :)
For the encouraging comments, I've modified my theme to display it. Ideally I wouldn't use too many plugins. You can check out my plugins used page to see what I use.

The SPA team is working on enhancements. Turning all links off by default etc. are planned.
I believe you can try adding class = "snap_nopreview" to the links you don't want SPA to popup.

My poor attempts at modifying the code were unsuccessful :-) I use different themes and could insert the do_action into the header.php before /head, but having the plugin do it appeals to lazy people such as myself.

I just put in the snap code into my header page and it seemed to be that the code worked fine in IE7 but not at all in Firefox.
Is there something different with using the plugin? Will that make it display in Firefox? Otherwise I'm wondering what the plugin does since the previews for external links are showing up at my site.

The plugin is an easy way to put the code in. It also uses valid XHTML. The plugin adds the code in the footer.

Ok, I installed the plugin because I want to keep my site validated in xhtml and I assumed without the plugin it might not validate using only the Snap script.
This did make the snap preview show up in Firefox, however, no matter what I've tried, if I try to show internal links it doesn't work.
Other than that the plugin works great. Any suggestions on what I should change? I added the code manually to my footer after trying it with 'automatic insert' first.
But, the reason your internal links dont display is because your settings are not correct.

Sorry about not replying, for some reason that just didnt show up in all my results and I kept thinking mine was the last reply. Anyway I replied there. You will need to update the plugin to the latest version I released two days back. This should fix your internal link display.
@Andreas, I wish I could have automated the registration as well, but I guess that won't be possible, for now atleast :(

Girafa has been offering thumbnails for a long time. It is useful if you have less than 2000 to display.
Becomes a bit expensive beyond that for normal site users.

I have some constructive (I hope) critcism
1. the information, at the top of this page, on what the plugin is, who needs it and what it does needs to be much clearer - and written for non programmers. Normal bloggers like me don't have the first clue what you mean.
2. Then when we go to the support forum to ask questions we find we need to register - why? Its not like you are getting innundated there and registering is a right royal pain (here I am writing this as I wait for my "activation email") 12mins and counting...

2. I would have loved to keep the support forum open, but the moment I do that the forum gets royally spammed, and hence the necessity to require registration. The idea is to also collate all support queries in one location and keep the size of this page due to comments smaller (hopefully). Hi,
When I installed your plugin on my blog it worked great except for one thing. I have many Flash videos on my site and if a link is too close to the video embed, the snap previews go behind the flash video almost like a background layer and is quite obstructed.
Is there anyway I can fix this as I would really like to use your plugin?

On the previews there is an Options link. It doesn't seem to anything as whenever I click I just get a 404 error page. Is there a way to remove it?
@teebee, This is something inbuilt into SPA. I believe the developers are doing something about it.

Hi Ajay, There is a small problem with the Snap preview anywhere plugin. When I went to edit my posts the Visual rich editor (Wordpress Default editor) wouldn't come up and it would just wait and wait. I disabled snap preview anywhere plugin and now I can edit my posts with the visual rich editor. I am using Wordpress 2.0.7 http://stjosephs-kanpur.com

shakeb, I'm not sure how the status is like with the WYSIWYG and SPA.
Let me iterate that it is not the problem of the plugin. I also can't blame it on the SPA javascript. It's just a clashing of the javascripts. I think this is because of the onload for both. Just a guess however.

Qucik question... is there a way (if the plugin is set to show previews for all links) to disable per post. For example, for my thumbnails in my blog, I have enabled a plugin to show the image right there when you click the thumbnail, when I use that plugin in a post I would like to be able to disable the snap preview. Is this possible?

If it wasn't inserting it automatically, there is an 80% chance that this was because the wp_footer hook was missing in your theme.

Let me iterate that it is not the problem of the plugin. I also can't blame it on the SPA javascript.
It's just a clashing of the javascripts. I think this is because of the
onloadfor both. Just a guess however.Thanks for this great plugin :)

wp_footerhook was missing in your theme.I'm working on a new version which I hope to get out on Monday or latest Tuesday. You can see some of it functional on this blog.
I need to get in the theme support and icon support as well, which I am working on right now.
