your plugin works great! ;)
Have a nice week-end :)
Glad to know you like the plugin. Thanks for the feedback.
I've added it to my site and added it to my list of plugins I recommend.
Glad to know you consider this as one of your favorite plugins.
Using the nav bar at the top of my site I found that if I explicitly used my own URL in the link the preview does not display but the links built by the wordpress engine such as the permalink post titles, comments and anything using the get_settings('home') all display a preview.
One interesting thing is that for local ad servers, the preview still works (while if you mouse over a google banner it doesn't) Wonder if they'll add some type of parameter that'll let you specify a list of domains or URLs that should not be previewed.
Didn't seem to slow down the page loading much so no harm there - we'll see if their caches build up fast enough for it to be useful to B or C listers :)
@Mike, they have big plans on expanding this I am sure (from the little I've chatted with their support).
The previews from what I read are generated and slowed. So what you can do is hover over all the links and let it get stored.
You seem to have made an interesting observation. I think I know why it could be so.
The javascript must be parsing the
atag and adding a class or onmouseover or something that will popup the link. For adsense and other ads that load in iframes the
ais not accessible.http://sindhu.110mb.com/wp-plugins/11/thumbshot...
but i feel a sense of loss of my idea though. sigh
SPA is totally different from Thumbshots; maybe you can toy with this to get something to work ;)
Keep up the great work!
I think I may be able to implement this feature within the plugin though Snap doesn't have it by itself.
Let me give this a shot with some sites and put it to test. However, one thing I forsee is that for every domain you add, some extra code will automatically be added. Unless...
Drop me a line direct, but I had some ideas about making a Blog badge showing how many previews rendered and or searches generated from the SPA window... kinda like what Alexa does for rank...

I've sent you a mail.
Would be great to have features like this :)
The download link on this page is returning a 403 Forbidden error, I thought it might be the download manager I am using causing it but I tried to download it through the browser (Firefox) and still returns that error.
Hope you can fix it soon :)
Thanks,
Rumple.
Anyway, I've sent you the direct link via email.
You look like you have lots of nifty enhancements here in your comments: did you use a plugin to put in your "I encourage comments." box too, as well as the Preview and the tag-adder buttons? Very useful! Thanx in advance and keep it up. :)
I've got plugins for the Live Preview and for adding Tags. These are ancient plugins which do their job. No fancy stuff :)
For the encouraging comments, I've modified my theme to display it. Ideally I wouldn't use too many plugins. You can check out my plugins used page to see what I use.
wp_footer()in your theme. If not use the manual instructions above.Posted how on support forum. Thanks Ajay!
Glad to know you like the plugin. Thanks for the comment. Do spread the word and check back often :)
@SANCHEZ, I've replied.
Do you plan a similar plugin for the new Technorati function.
See http://www.sifry.com/alerts/archives/000444.html

I've not looked into the widget yet. Let me see what I can do :)
I can think of a nice feature you could add, I would like to exclude the preview from some of my links, so I would like to add to those links i.e. class="technorati" a classname that will not be "parsed" by your plugin, something like: i.e. class="technorati nopreview" to manually exclude certain links to display a preview...
Thanks for the comment. I'm currently working with the developers of SPA to see how we can enhance the previews. You may find something similar being implemented soon.
using wordpress is there a way to turn some external links on and some off? i want to use this to sell ads
thanks
i've been emailing snap support they don't quite get it.
I believe you can try adding
class = "snap_nopreview"to the links you don't want SPA to popup. Is there a way to get the code inserted via wp_header and/or wp_footer?
My poor attempts at modifying the code were unsuccessful :-) I use different themes and could insert the do_action into the header.php before /head, but having the plugin do it appeals to lazy people such as myself.
Is there something different with using the plugin? Will that make it display in Firefox? Otherwise I'm wondering what the plugin does since the previews for external links are showing up at my site.
Please help. Thank you.
The plugin adds the code in the footer.
This did make the snap preview show up in Firefox, however, no matter what I've tried, if I try to show internal links it doesn't work.
Other than that the plugin works great. Any suggestions on what I should change? I added the code manually to my footer after trying it with 'automatic insert' first.
But, the reason your internal links dont display is because your settings are not correct.
Maybe I am missing something but how do I get the Snap to work on my WordPress blog hosted on Wordpress? I have seen sites using it so I know it can be done.
Thanks,
Erik
If you are all not aware now, we have started a beta trial of Snap Preview Anywhere (SPA) for Wordpress.com hosted blog users. Matt @ Wordpress has posted about this trial program on the official Wordpress.com blog.
Read more about it here...

Also, keep on the look-out for more Snap Preview Anywhere news at Wordpress.com in the next few weeks!

I only wonder what is the strategy of snap.com - do they plan to add eventually ads in those previews? Can't see another simple and straightforward way to get any revenue from this kind of service...
I got one answer on how to do something, which I had already done, and then no follow up. Can you tell me whether there's a fix to the problem I posted in the forum?
thanks
@jafer, I have answered all questions in the forum. could you please point me to the post. I never answer support questions out here unless it is of a general nature.
@mamphp, Please use the support forum. Though, I can see the SPA on your site.
Sorry about not replying, for some reason that just didnt show up in all my results and I kept thinking mine was the last reply. Anyway I replied there. You will need to update the plugin to the latest version I released two days back. This should fix your internal link display.
@Andreas, I wish I could have automated the registration as well, but I guess that won't be possible, for now atleast :(
I love this plugin!
Becomes a bit expensive beyond that for normal site users.
Wonderful plugin, thanks. A question, do you know if there is possible to set the external links to _blank in some way?
I have some constructive (I hope) critcism
1. the information, at the top of this page, on what the plugin is, who needs it and what it does needs to be much clearer - and written for non programmers. Normal bloggers like me don't have the first clue what you mean.
2. Then when we go to the support forum to ask questions we find we need to register - why? Its not like you are getting innundated there and registering is a right royal pain (here I am writing this as I wait for my "activation email") 12mins and counting...
Life should be simpler than this.
Kieran
1. I think that makes sense. Let me see how I can work on it. It sometimes is a bit hard for a programmer to write non-programming material :|
2. I would have loved to keep the support forum open, but the moment I do that the forum gets royally spammed, and hence the necessity to require registration. The idea is to also collate all support queries in one location and keep the size of this page due to comments smaller (hopefully). If you're account hasn't been activated please email me the contact details you used, so I can activate it.
Glad to know that :)
Glad to know it's working well for you :)
Do spread the word and make a post about it to tell your visitors.
before I got to ask my questions it seems like wordpress has adopted the plugin for everyone. Thanks and best wishes.
Well, this plugin doesn't work on WP.com anyway :)
I do not know what they are using for it.
Ajay
When I installed your plugin on my blog it worked great except for one thing. I have many Flash videos on my site and if a link is too close to the video embed, the snap previews go behind the flash video almost like a background layer and is quite obstructed.
Is there anyway I can fix this as I would really like to use your plugin?
Thanks.
On the previews there is an Options link. It doesn't seem to anything as whenever I click I just get a 404 error page. Is there a way to remove it?
@teebee, This is something inbuilt into SPA. I believe the developers are doing something about it.
Thx for your work, i love this plugin !
Bye
The preview is an erreur database but my site is ok...
Have you a solution ?
Thx and sorry for my bad english, i am french ^^
Bye
@Hamtaro, please direct the query in the support forum. There have been a lot of threads which various problems, you're query may be already resolved ...
Yours was the most easy to install of all the plugins that I have used.
I agree with the other commenter above that you deserve an award for this.
Keep up the great work.
There is a small problem with the Snap preview anywhere plugin. When I went to edit my posts the Visual rich editor (Wordpress Default editor) wouldn't come up and it would just wait and wait. I disabled snap preview anywhere plugin and now I can edit my posts with the visual rich editor.
I am using Wordpress 2.0.7

@shakeb, check this post.
@Neville, got the email, have replied to it.
The needed to add part of the code didn't display, you can send that portion to me in the email.
Thanks for checking the forums :)
@Deepak, WP.com already has it inbuilt. It's somewhere in Options > Extras I think
Do you know if the Plugin works fine with 2.1 ?
Also I am using CLutter free so now I can edit posts with snap preview plugin
Let me iterate that it is not the problem of the plugin. I also can't blame it on the SPA javascript.
It's just a clashing of the javascripts. I think this is because of the
onloadfor both. Just a guess however. Thanks for this great plugin :)
:-)
wp_footerhook was missing in your theme.I'm working on a new version which I hope to get out on Monday or latest Tuesday. You can see some of it functional on this blog.
I need to get in the theme support and icon support as well, which I am working on right now.
